I hitchhiked to Kfar Szold from Rosh Pinna. Within 3 car changes and 40minutes I’d arrived.
Kfar Szold is a scattered compact community in a green valley – close to a beautiful lake which has the distinction of being the best located ‘Kibbutz’ (I’d been to) in Israel.
Most of the people are young and live organically.
Curiously, it looked more prosperous than many of the other Kibbutzes I had been. It had a school, kindergarten, little hospital, many green areas, nice houses and at the mouth of the community it had county lodging and sports courts.
I had come to visit a friend, traveller, musician and tour guide – that had lived in Kfar Szold for a reasonable amount of time.
If you’re going to the North of Israel and plan on having a rounded experience then go to Kfar Szold and just chill with the people. Make friends and you will surely be offered a place to stay for a few nights. You’ll automatically feel like part of a community, I loved it, it was that wholesome feeling that I missed out on in the big city.
You can enjoy nearby hikes to The Syrian Tank, Odem, The Valley of Springs and more
