My Trip To “The Colonial White City” Popayan

August 9, 2017

Popayan is a city in Colombia in the South Western Department of Cauca.

It is known for having white washed buildings and is normally a pit stop city for travelers going from Ecuador to central Colombia or from Cali / Bogota / Medellin to Ecuador by land.

Popayan is a very safe city and can be enjoyed within just a few days. My trip to Popayan was very peaceful, calming and stress free. I saw older tourists for the first time in Colombia walking around peacefully at night and day and several people had their cameras out and were taking pictures.

I arrived to Popayan from Cali by bus Β and paid $15000 my ticket. The scenery along the journey was gorgeous and the bus ride took just under 3 hours.

This is a city that can be enjoyed by all styles of travelers; from couple breaks to backpackers (if relaxing, stress-free & inexpensive is what you are looking for!).

Entertainment In Popayan

Class street entertainment in Popayan. This goes on night and day and is rather delightful.
